TAILOR MADE
THE GENIUS OF
The Genius of Tailor Made
By Andrew Moreno
Posted: December 2007

When we fist encountered Tailor Made (I Love
New York, Season II) there was something about
his demeanor that caught our attention.  This
item, or gift, we noticed, was also recognized by
millions of other fans.  Each week, we tune in for
our New York fix and anxiously wait for the arrival
of drama. Yes, it does not say much for our
society, but those with mundane lives enjoy the
entertainment.  It’s a time many of us enjoy, being
that we don’t have to think/worry about our lives
and work.  Not only do we enjoy our drama, but
we also enjoy watching and learning more about
Tailor Made.  The question is, what is it about
Tailor Made that has made him so popular among
the other contestants?  Could it be his looks; his
ability to be articulate; his gestures presented to
New York; his success; or his fashion sense?  In
many opinions, these qualities are part of his
charm, but do not quantify the reality of his
    popularity.

For instance, other contestants are also successful and education (Punk) and there are
those with the above-average physique (Buddha).  So, we cannot determine that based
on these qualities alone is the reason for Tailor Made’s success; simply because his
qualities are shared within the house.  What we do find unique about Tailor Made is his
ability to nurture and care for New York.  I’m sure you’re familiar with the idiom, “Who
wears the pants in the relationship?”  It is to no one’s surprise, that we see New York as
an opinionated and independent woman.  It was for this reason, why Flavor Flav
dismissed New York in season II or Flavor of Love.  I think we can all agree that New
York prefers to be in control of her relationships and enjoys her reign.  Let us also
consider her mother, Sister Patterson, who is, in many ways, like New York: loud;
boastful; and stubborn.

If we understand New York’s personality, then we understand part of her liking for Tailor
Made. He always looks put together, groomed, and clean; so yes, this makes him a
metrosexual.  Another plus; women love when a man looks groomed and successful.  It
makes them feel secure about themselves.

Perhaps this also explains the fan popularity of Tailor Made, as he has many of the
qualities other women are looking for too.  The other contestants on the show, were
obviously there for self-gratification and celebrity.

Although we do not know New York personally, we have had the opportunity to get to
know her and her family over the past four seasons of I love New York and Flavor of
Love.

Here’s our Top Ten reasons, women love Tailor Made:

1.        Articulate
2.        Determined
3.        Mile Jealousy
4.        Well-Groomed
5.        Financially secure
6.        Submissive
7.        Calm
8.        Rationale (minus the spitting thing)
9.        Handsome
10.        It appears he truly has love for New York

The common saying; you either love him or hate him, is right on.  Yet, we believe that
those who love him, are in the majority.
